Index...for not getting completelly lost! :)

How I choose an hotel/B&B

I have to be honest...for what concerns the accommodation I spoiled myself, almost all the times....

No that I was not the type of youth hostels: when I was 22 I did an entire inter-rail in UK sleeping in youth hostels, and also when I was 26-30 and I had a boyfriend, we were some times taking the double room in the youth hostels...

But now I am single, no children....and why not to spend some money for myself?

Which in my case it is not the fact of having luxuries (nice furniture, the pillow menu, etc.)...but it is the case of
  • having a bathroom for myself,
  • being able to sleep
  • and to not die of coldness...
So, the first point is easily reachable.....

The second two are then my criteria for choosing (and after judging) an hotel...I may pass over matters such as no good breakfast (or not at all), not 100% clean, old furniture...but I DO NOT PASS OVER the lack of quietness of the room and the fact of not having all the comforts for ensuring that I will not be cold.

The quietness: I have a very light sleep, I wake up also for small noises, then, even if I sleep with earplugs, I need a quiet room. I also prefer the quietness during the day, but ok, since I am not in the hotel during all the day, this is preferred but not essential.

The fact of not being cold: as almost everyone who knows me knows, I have thyroidal gland problems, this results in my metabolism to be very slow and to go almost at zero during night...so I am not that kind of woman who sleeps in sexy lingerie, but I sleep with a warm pajamas and under 10 blankets and duvets....(please, do not let me go more in detail! ;))

My typical email when I reserve a room contains therefore requests as additional blankets, quiet room, far from the lift, not facing the street, etc....

This is why to be sure to obtain the two conditions, I go in 4-5 stars hotels, and being alone but paying a double room (often there are not single rooms!!! :( )...this results in the accommodation being one of the most important part of the travel expenses.

And the satisfaction or not of the two conditions is the main element on which my reviews of the visited hotels/B&Bs will be based....

Enjoy and have a nice sleep!!!! :)

PS: of course, the requirement of the Wi-Fi connection is given for granted...
